Bangkok’s “Naruemit Pride 2022” — Naruemit means “creation” in Thai — was organised by a coalition of non-governmental groups. People of all genders, sexualities, sex workers, drag artists, gender non-conforming people and others identifying as LGBTQIA+ people marched through Bangkok’s Silom Road on Sunday, 5 June 2022.
Newly elected Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt joined the parade, after taking part in a Pride Month celebration at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre on Saturday, where he announced that pride month will be one of the 12 monthly festivals in Bangkok.
The pride parade is also a platform for LGBTQIA+ activists to advocate the same-sex marriage and civil union partnership bill.
