On the occasion that there will be a regional Center of Asian Philanthropy and Society (CAPS) workshop during February 2023 with CAPS representatives flying into Thailand, the School of Global Studies invited APTN to join the event entitled: Doing Good Index (DGI): Working Together Towards Sustainability for Thailand’s Social Sector.

The Doing Good Index (DGI) examines enabling environment for philanthropy and private social investment across 15 Asian economies. Composed of four areas: tax and fiscal policy, regulatory regimes, socio-cultural ecosystem, and government procurement, the Index reveals how Asian economies are catalysing philanthropic giving. The Doing Good Index serves as useful data for Asian governments, as well as for nonprofits, foundations and charities in Asia.

The meeting was organised by the School of Global Studies, Thammasat University, and the Center of Asian Philanthropy and Society (CAPS), with the main objective of discussing the Doing Good Index and analysing the ecosystem that facilitates charitable donations and social investment for all sectors in Thailand. The DGI is an important data set that can benefit governments and all social delivery organisations (SDOs) in Asia. The event also included a preliminary presentation for collecting data for the 2024 DGI.
