Centering Trans Women’s Voices on International Women’s Day 2022

Let’s center trans women’s voices on International Women’s Day 2022!

Transgender women face systemic discrimination in almost all areas of life, including in education, employment, housing, and the provision of health care. On top of it, the exclusion of trans women in the women’s movement is still prevalent. Hence, we need to listen to their voice and always include trans women in women’s and feminist spaces.

Today, APTN is presenting six trans women representatives around the Asia Pacific. They are Maria Eda Catabas (Philippines), Mickey & Palm (Thailand), Alegra Wolter (Indonesia), Rukshana Kapali (Nepal), and Jun Ho Kim (Samoa). Each has their own opinion on breaking the bias around gender identity and stereotypes.
