Last November, the APTN joined the inaugural APAC Building Responsible Digital Transformation Forum organised by Info Exchange and other Tech Partners. The Forum series brought together a diverse range of stakeholders from across the region to discuss and advance the critical issue of responsible digital citizenship.

APTN recognizes the immense potential of the digital world to drive economic growth, social development, and regional integration. However, we also acknowledge the challenges and risks associated with the rapid growth of the internet and digital technologies.

The over +50 selected NGOs organisation participating in the Forum

The APAC Building Responsible Digital Citizenship Forum was a vital platform to address these challenges and chart a course towards a more inclusive, safe, and sustainable digital future for all. Over a series of weekly Forums, participants engaged in productive discussions on a wide range of topics, including:

  • The meaning and importance of responsible digital citizenship: We explored what it means to be a responsible digital citizen and how we can all contribute to creating a more positive online environment.
  • The role of different stakeholders: We discussed the crucial roles that governments, industry players, civil society organizations, and individuals must play in promoting responsible digital citizenship.
  • Addressing the challenges: We delved into the challenges of cyberbullying, online harassment, misinformation, and other online harms, and explored potential solutions to mitigate these risks.
  • Harnessing the opportunities of AI: We examined the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to advance various sectors, while also acknowledging the ethical considerations and challenges associated with this powerful technology.

The forum fostered a collaborative and solutions-oriented environment, with participants sharing best practices, identifying gaps and needs, and brainstorming innovative approaches to building a more responsible digital ecosystem.

Some Key takeaways from the Forum:

  • Responsible digital citizenship is essential for creating a safe, inclusive, and sustainable digital future.
  • All stakeholders have a role to play in promoting responsible digital citizenship.
  • We need to address the challenges of cyberbullying, online harassment, misinformation, and other online harms.
  • AI has the potential to advance various sectors, but we need to be mindful of the ethical considerations and challenges associated with this technology.
